Lunchbreak: Danielle Hunter Makes All-Under-25 Team
March 23, 2017 04:00 PM | Eric Smith

Danielle Hunter made his presence known to opposing offenses last season by racking up a team-high 12.5 sacks in only his second year in the league.

Elliot Harrison of NFL.com took notice of Hunter's monster season, a year in which the Vikings defensive end tied for third in the NFL in sacks.

Harrison recently released his All-Under-25 team, and had the 22-year-old Hunter listed along the defensive line.

Harrison wrote:

Hunter recorded 12.5 sacks and, according to Sam Monson at Pro Football Focus, 55 total hurries last season. The amazing deal with Hunter is that he was a rookie at 20 years old, so despite having already played two years in the league, he will turn all of 23 in October. You know what I was doing at 23? Driving a teal Ford Probe GT. Good grief.

Hunter was one of four players from the NFC North who made Harrison's team. Chicago, Detroit and Green Bay each had one player selected.

A third-round pick out of LSU in 2015, Hunter has 18.5 career sacks in 30 games. He also had a 24-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown in Minnesota's season-opening win over the Titans in 2016.

And since Hunter is still so young, there's a chance he could end up on this list again next year.

Vikings could add to O-line in draft

With the 2017 NFL Draft just five weeks away, teams are homing in on which areas of need they want to improve next month.

While the Vikings currently don't have a first-round pick, NFL.com's Lance Zierlein recently wrote Minnesota could focus on a trio of spots - offensive line, defensive tackle and running back.

Zierlein wrote:

With no first-round pick, the Vikings had to go out and add Mike Remmers and Riley Reiff to help at tackle. I would argue that more depth is still needed along the O-line. Adding depth at DT is needed, and Latavius Murray's deal might not prevent the addition of another RB.

The Vikings currently have eight picks in the upcoming draft. Their first selection is slated to be in the second round with the 48th overall pick.
